Why Natural Daylight?

We understand that additional lighting can enhance the appearance of gemstones. It can make colors appear more vibrant and highlight certain features more dramatically. Indeed, “ it is easier to show magnificent stones with additional light”. However, this approach can also be misleading. Artificial light sources often distort the true color and brilliance of a gemstone. The result? A potential mismatch between customer expectations and the actual appearance of the stone upon delivery.

Our philosophy is straightforward: “capturing gemstones in daylight is the most honest way to show reality”. Natural daylight provides a consistent and unbiased light source, revealing the gemstone's true colors and clarity without alteration. This allows you, our valued customer, to make an informed decision based on a realistic portrayal of the gemstone's beauty.

Exceptions: Highlighting Specific Features

While we primarily use natural daylight, there are rare exceptions. We may utilize “additional lighting only used to show varieties or special optical effects”. For example, certain gemstones exhibit unique optical phenomena, such as chatoyancy or asterism, which can be better highlighted with controlled lighting. In such cases, we clearly indicate that additional lighting has been used, ensuring complete transparency. (or you see an addtional in-screen video showcasing with additional light)

Addressing Potential Color Variations

It is important to understand that “a difference in color is possible due to camera opticals”. Even with natural daylight photography, slight or in some colors even larger variations in color might occur due to the camera's capture possibility, the type of camera used, and the individual monitor calibrations. While we make every effort to ensure accurate color representation, we encourage you to view our gemstone images and videos as a close approximation of the actual appearance. If there is a large difference in color capture we also specify that on the products page.
